On June 17, 2014 the Federal Official Gazette published the Decree pursuant to which article 123, section III of the Federal Constitution of Mexico was amended, effective as of the following day.

The constitutional amendment increases the minimum working age in Mexico from 14 to 15 years, under the principle of protecting childrens’ right to education.

As a consequence, the use of labor by children under fifteen years of age shall henceforth be forbidden.
