DSIO grants extension of no-action relief for swap dealers doing business in Europe. The Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight announced that it has issued an extension of the time-limited no-action relief provided in CFTC Staff Letter 17-05 from May 8, 2017, until November 7, 2017. This extended relief states that the DSIO will not recommend enforcement against a swap dealer that is subject to, and in compliance with, the margin requirements for non-centrally cleared OTC derivatives in the EU for failure to comply with the CFTC’s final margin rule. CFTC seeks comment on CME petition for order pursuant to CEA Section 4d. The CFTC announced that it is seeking public comment on a petition submitted by Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. for an order that would permit CME and its clearing members that are registered futures commission merchants to hold, in accounts segregated in accordance with Section 4d of the Commodity Exchange Act, positions and funds related to products in the energy sector that are listed on the Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME). The petition seeks to expand a previous CFTC order, which presently covers a more limited number of DME energy products. Comments regarding the request should be submitted by April 28, 2017.
