The Commission has launched a consultation on a review of the Deposit Guarantee Directive. The Commission believes the current framework needs change, and asks several questions on the nature of potential changes. The consultation deals with:
- coverage levels;
- scope of coverage;
- eligibility of depositors;
- structure and functioning of DGS including the possibility of creating one pan-European DGS;
- set-off;
- payout arrangements; and
- financing of DGS.
It wants comments by 27 July.
