The Commission has launched a consultation on a review of the Deposit Guarantee Directive. The Commission believes the current framework needs change, and asks several questions on the nature of potential changes. The consultation deals with:

  • coverage levels;
  • scope of coverage;
  • eligibility of depositors;
  • structure and functioning of DGS including the possibility of creating one pan-European DGS;
  • set-off;
  • payout arrangements; and
  • financing of DGS.

It wants comments by 27 July.
