Women's state pension age to be 65 by
November 2018


State pension age to increase to 66 by April
2020 (phased in from December 2018)

The Pensions Bill contains provisions to effect changes announced in the
Spending Review:

 

  • equalisation of state pension age for men and women at 65 will be accelerated to November 2018; and
  • state pension age for men and women will increase to 66 by April 2020.
     

Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, confirmed in October 2010 that the
Government would like to introduce a flat-rate state pension.
