The Central Bank’s latest quarterly statistics were issued on 2 December 2011. These show the continued strength of the funds industry in Ireland and note that Irish domiciled funds grew as a relative percentage of the total for the Euro area during the quarter from 10.8% to 11.2%.

The statistics include a breakdown of investment funds by category – including bond funds, equity funds, hedge funds and others. They note that Irish hedge funds showed an overall increase in assets of 13.2% during the quarter, with approximately 40% of this being in the form of new subscriptions. This illustrates the continued growth of Ireland as the European domicile of choice for alternative funds.
