On November 5, 2007 a Code of Practice for the concrete and concrete products industry under the Waste Discharge Regulation was made. Among other things, the Code, together with the Waste Discharge Regulation, regulates the amount of waste that may be discharged into water and air from these types of establishments and provides for effluent sampling and analysis, record keeping, the requirement to take remedial measures and to notify a Ministry Director in the event that a particulate control system or effluent treatment system becomes inoperative for any reason.
