Whilst the defendant was in breach of duty in its drafting of a distribution agreement which failed to cover licensing of intellectual property rights, the defects in the intellectual property rights clause did not cause the claimant any loss. When solicitors undertake work at a specific fee, they are generally obliged to complete it exercising the ordinary standard of care, even where it has become unremunerative to do so (Inventors Friend Ltd v Leathes Prior www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/QB/2011/711.html).
