The Environment Agency is consulting on a revised draft of Pollution Prevention Guidelines (PPG) 27, which relate to the installation, decommissioning and removal of underground storage tanks (USTs). The guidance is applicable to businesses and individuals who store polluting substances underground, want to install a new UST, or wish to remove or decommission an existing UST. The consultation covers:
- Permitting and licensing for environmental protection
- Reducing the risk of pollution by making the right planning and pre-installation choices from the start
- Correct installation of a UST
- Different ways to decommission a UST
The consultation closes on 23 March 2012.
