Battelle Energy’s planned carbon sequestration project in Wallula, Washington, that had stalled is now back on track. Battelle has joined with Boise Inc. to move forward with the project. The original demonstration project, which was originally scheduled to take place at the Port of Walla Walla’s Wallula Gap Business Park, had to be moved because of community concerns that a coal-fired power plant would eventually be built near the site. The project will begin in December with a mapping of the basalt formations that will allow Battelle and Boise to determine the best layer for carbon dioxide injection.
