The Department of Employment has released a new report showing continued low wage increases in private sector federal enterprise agreements for the March quarter of this year.

1197 private sector agreements were approved in the past quarter, which provided an average wage rise of 3.6 per cent over a period of 3 years. This increase is consistent with the wage rises of the past year, but still remains at a near-record low. As an indication, the Department says the increase “is lower than the 3.9 per cent average for the private sector since 2009 when economic activity in Australia started to recover from some of the effects of the Global Financial Crisis”.
