Epstein Becker Green’s Telemental Health Laws app now reflects the 2019 changes to telehealth laws, regulations, and policies that are affecting mental and behavioral health practitioners and stakeholders across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

In 2019, we saw continued bipartisan support in Congress, expanded Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, and the development of state regulatory guidance. The opioid epidemic continues to put pressure on legislatures to increase access to telehealth services. However, utilization by Medicare programs and coverage by public and private payors continues to be low, and the complex patchwork of laws across the country remains a barrier to adoption.
