Under the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) is responsible for publishing lists of shares admitted to trading on a regulated market, systematic internalisers, multilateral trading facilities, regulated markets and central counterparties. CESR has published a database of shares admitted to trading on regulated markets on 3 July 2007 together with a guidebook on market transparency calculations, and databases covering the four other lists on 1 November 2007.
On 17 December 2007 CESR published a consultation paper setting out proposals designed to improve the functioning of the databases. The consultation paper asks for views on what functions should be added to the databases. The deadline for comments was 21 January 2008. Based on the responses to the consultation, CESR will update the databases and publish new versions in March 2008.
