Notices for ground rent are required to follow the requirements of Section 166 of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002.
Unless the landlord has given the leaseholder notice stating the amount due and the date for payment, the rent will not be payable.
The notice must follow the form prescribed by the Landlord and Tenant (Notice of Rent) (England) Regulations 2004.
On 16 May 2011 an alteration was made for properties in England to the wording of the 'Notes for Leaseholders' on the prescribed form of Notice of Ground rent .
A correction slip has been issued by Her Majesty's Stationery Office (HMSO) and managers sending out notices as well as leaseholders receiving them should check that the correct form of notice is being used.
