New solar array in Toledo will help supply energy to water treatment plant The City of Toledo is using the power of the sun to lower energy costs needed to run its water treatment plant. According to a recent article in The Toledo Blade, a joint venture between the city, the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority and IPS Energy Ventures helped to get the $5.2 million project off the ground. The solar array is expected to save the city one cent per kilowatt hour and provide approximately one-quarter of the plant’s annual energy needs.
