Details of the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) long awaited Industrial Transformation Research Program (ITRP) have now been released.

The goal of the ITRP is to offer funding to bolster research between universities and industries. 

The ARC has indicated that the priority areas for the initial funding round are for research and industries focussed on Australia’s future food storage, food processing, manufacturing capabilities and product opportunities.

Universities and industry partners now have the opportunity to submit bids to the ARC for funding of:

  • Industrial Transformation Research Hubs (ITRH):to tackle big industry challenges by focussing on significant collaborative R&D projects (ARC funding of up to $1m p.a. for periods of 1 – 5 years); and
  • Industrial Transformation Training Centres (ITTC): to provide innovative training for young researchers vital to Australia’s future industry (ARC funding of up to $1m p.a. for 3 years to support up to ten (10) Higher Degree by Research students and three (3) postdoctoral researchers).
