A reminder for business owners to renew and maintain their business name.The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) urged business owners to renew their business name or risk it being cancelled. In the first half of 2015, ASIC cancelled more than 95,000 business names after business name holders failed to pay their renewal notices. Academics and regulators evaluate the effect of high-frequency trading and regulation. The Australian Financial Review reported on the discussion between academics and regulators about high-frequency trading on financial markets and whether more should be done to balance fairness and liquidity. ASIC releases enforcement report for first half of 2015. ASIC released its enforcement report for January 1 to June 30, 2015. The report noted that, during the last six months, ASIC achieved 323 enforcement outcomes to protect financial consumers and enhance the fairness and efficiency of Australia’s financial markets. Singapore dollar remains within policy band despite market volatility. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced that the trade-weighted Singapore dollar remains within its policy band although there is volatility in foreign exchange markets following the recent shift in China’s exchange rate policy.
