The Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT) is an independent statutory office established to review systemic tax administration issues.
Following extensive public consultation, the IGT recently announced a new work program for improving tax administration.

The IGT work program will include a review of the ATO’s:
- approach to debt collection;
- services and support for tax practitioners;
- Taxpayers’ Charter and taxpayer protections; and
- conduct of employer obligation compliance activities.
The IGT will be seeking submissions from stakeholders and interested parties in the coming months for the purposes of the reviews.
Taxpayers and tax professionals may wish to make submissions to the IGT.
