The Renewable Fuels Association sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy August 28 in response to a petroleum industry petition seeking a waiver for the 2014 renewable fuel blending mandate. The group argued that the American Petroleum Institute and the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers do not have the standing to file for a waiver because the two trade associations are not directly regulated by the Renewable Fuel Standard and are therefore unable to file for a waiver under the Clean Air Act.
