From Sunday 19 May 2013, all applications for business visas (work permits) for entry clearance into the United Kingdom under the points-based system made in Bangladesh will need to be completed online.

Applications for other types of visas will be online-only from Sunday 2 June 2013.

From these dates, manually completed application forms will no longer be accepted at the visa application centres in Bangladesh (located in Dhaka and Sylhet).

Bangladesh is the latest state to be added to the long list of countries from which applications for UK visas must be made online. Paper applications (completed by hand) are still required by visa applicants based in the following countries:

  • Cuba
  • Malawi
  • North Korea
  • Turkmenistan
  • Zimbabwe

For individuals applying for a visa for the UK from the following countries, you can choose whether to apply using the Home Office’s online application system or by printing off the visa application form and completing it by hand:

  • Maldives
  • Mozambique
  • Namibia
  • Nepal
  • Nigeria
  • Sri Lanka
