The Joint Committee of the House of Lords and Commons appointed to conduct pre-legislative scrutiny of the draft Financial Services Bill (FSB) has launched a call for evidence. The call for evidence contains 22 detailed questions about the FSB and reforms to the UK financial services regulatory structure. In addition to the questions, the Committee is interested in whether the FSB:

  • will or could better:
    • prevent another financial crisis;
    • handle a financial crisis; and
    • deal with bank failure and protect the public purse; and
    • will increase or decrease the risk or regulatory arbitrage of financial businesses.

The deadline for written submissions is 2 September 2011. (Source: Press Notice 21 July 2011 and Call for Evidence)
