The Commercial Division has recently issued a Statement of Costs precedent, to be used in conjunction with the new Commercial Division costs rules set out in CPR 69B.11(3). The precedent indicates that practitioners, when preparing a statement of costs, should provide a detailed breakdown of individual tasks and associated time entries, rather than providing an overall figure of time spent. It is hoped that this will better enable the Court to assess costs and to verify that they have been reasonably incurred.
