TransCanada Corporation plans to file regulatory documents in the first half of 2009 for two new pipelines to transport natural gas from northeastern British Columbia to Alberta. TransCanada recognizes the tremendous amount of exploration activity in northeast British Columbia and have identified production locations where additional physical capacity to get to the marketplace is needed. They have had a number of inquiries from producers looking for installation of infrastructure. They are holding an open season to determine producer needs. Current plans would see pipelines from the Horn River Basin and Montney-Groundbirch gas play. The projects could be in excess of $100 million if they proceed.
