Perhaps it is fitting that our final post of 2014 should be on the topic of Neighbourhood Plans, CLG's "favourite child" of the moment. No big news, but there has been a publication today of the response to the technical consultation regarding the procedure around NPs. Nothing major - but a bit of tinkering with the process. There will be time limits (8, 13 or 20 weeks depending on circumstances) for local authorities to process applications for designation as neighbourhood areas (with consultation to follow on what happens if the time limits are not met), and a requirement for a statement of reasons, environmental report or explanation of why Strategic EA does not apply to accompany the NP when submitted to the local planning authority. There is no change to the consultation and publicity process (so the proposals in the consultation are not going forward on these points).
