The SFO requested an extra £19 million in order to support further operational and capital costs, particularly with regard to “Blockbuster cases” (such as the Tchenguiz litigation), the LIBOR investigation, and two further “significant investigations”. The Justice Committee concl uded that the size of the Supplementary Estimate was significant in relation to the SFO’s existing budget for 2013–2014, representing a 52% increase in its resource requirement. The SFO has already received an extra £24 million in funding for 2013– 2014. The Justice Committee has referred the issue to the Attorney General for decision. The Attorney General has not yet given a date for his decision.
