The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy has published a draft opinion to the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) on EMIR. The opinion stresses how often financial instruments and markets are used by non-financial companies, where instruments are related to underlying commodities or for hedging purposes. So it urges avoiding over-regulation, and suggests some changes to the ECON draft report to get appropriate regulation while “moderating” the administrative burden on the corporate sector.
