With the imminent results of the Coalition Government's major review of the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS), independent think tank Civitas has released a new edition of Licensed to Hug, which urges the Government to scrap the VBS.

Civitas states that there has been a significant escalation of child protection measures such as the VBS and that these have created an atmosphere of suspicion. Which does not protect children but rather damages relations between generations and actually places children at a greater risk of harm.
