A federal court in Ohio granted Amazon Inc.’s motion for a preliminary injunction, preventing pilots from Air Transport Services Group Inc. from striking during the holiday season. The pilots, represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT or Teamsters), are fighting Amazon’s procedures for scheduling the pilots’ work. ABX Air, Inc. v. Teamsters.     

Approximately 70 pilots employed by Atlas Air and Southern Air, who fly for DHL Express, picketed DHL’s U.S. headquarters to protest the pace of ongoing contract negotiations.      

Two-hundred pilots from Spirit Air, represented by Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), conducted a two-day protest at Spirit Air’s headquarters in Miramar, Fla., seeking to pressure the company to accelerate ongoing contract negotiations, which have continued for two years without a settlement.      

Huntleigh USA Corp. employees conducted a one-day strike at Washington Reagan National and Dulles International Airports seeking a $15/hour minimum wage. The striking workers included baggage handlers, wheelchair escorts, and skycaps. The workers are not currently unionized, but they are among the groups of employees SEIU is targeting.
