Portuguese exportations to Spain rose 8.5% in the first semester of the present year, 2013, in comparison to the same period of 2012. The latest data from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competition provided by AICEP in Madrid, reported that Portugal sold to Spain goods and services worth € 4,744.7 Millions in the first six months of the year. In the same period, Portugal imported goods and services from Spain in the amount of € 8,005.3 Millions.

When analyzing the numbers AICEP highlights that besides the improvement in the trade deficit, the data shows that the growth of Portuguese exportations to Spain are especially significant "given the negative trend of global imports Spain (-3.2%)" and in particular, the imports from the EU (which fell 2.6%). Among the main Portuguese products sold, it stands out the growth of 80.3% in energy products (mainly oil and derivatives, representing 9.8% of total), 12.2% in manufactured consumer products which now represent 16, 7% of the total and an increase of 9.4% of food products.
