On July 18th, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network released a final rule, Definitions and Other Regulations Relating to Money Services Businesses, that more clearly defines which businesses qualify as Money Services Businesses and are therefore subject to anti-money laundering rules under the Bank Secrecy Act. The new rule will be effective 60 days after publication in the Federal Register, which is expected during the week of July 25.
