The Supreme Court recently decided that people could sue businesses in both state and federal court for nuisance phone calls under the Telephone Consumers Protection Act. There are currently several class actions pending in federal court claiming that a home security company violated the act by making calls either to people who were on the national Do Not Call Registry or to people’s cell phones without proper consent.
