The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) released its draft strategic plan for 2013-2018 on October 10, 2012. The document outlines the bureau’s mission, vision and values and describes four strategic goals that it aims to achieve over the next five years, including preventing financial harm to consumers while promoting practices that benefit them; empowering consumers to live better financial lives; informing the public, policy makers and the bureau’s own policy-making with data-driven analysis of consumer finance markets and consumer behavior; and advancing the bureau’s performance by maximizing resource productivity and enhancing impact.
