Paul Myners, Financial Services Secretary to the Treasury, spoke to the BBA Annual Conference. He focused on the importance of good corporate governance in banks and the social responsibilities they have. He also discussed the role of investor stewardship and fair value. He heralded the paper due on the future of financial services regulation and supervision and the need for an open and honest debate on the right model going forward. Finally he stressed Treasury's intention to engage in debates at European and international level.
