The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) has announced that it will pay out a rebate to Ohio employers starting in October 2014. In order to be eligible to receive the rebate, employers need to be current with the payment of their premiums as of September 5, 2014.
The announcement was made in Columbus on Wednesday, August 13, by Gov. John Kasich and counts as the second time in two years that Ohio businesses have received money from BWC. In 2013, more than 2,000 Ohio employers were rebated as part of the BWC plan "A Billion Back."
This year, Gov. Kasich and the BWC are ready to return $1 billion to Ohio businesses based on extra revenue from last year's BWC investments. Although the workers' compensation board of directors still need to submit their final approval, it is anticipated by the state that 184,000 private companies and 3,800 public employers will receive rebates in 2014.
