Following consultation, regulations have been made which will enable schemes to communicate electronically with members, subject to various safeguards. Members who opt out of receiving electronic information must be sent a hard copy.
The draft regulations included reducing the period for providing basic scheme information to members from two months to one month. This amendment has been withdrawn from the final regulations. Full or partial consolidation of the disclosure requirements is now being considered.
