On 5 May 2017 the EU Commission announced that it is setting up a 'multi-stakeholder expert group' to assist the Commission in clarifying how Member States’ existing and future legislation will ensure a uniform application of the GDPR. The Commission hopes to clarify how to maintain a high level of protection around personal data, while allowing data exchange and data transfers. It is anticipated that the group will consist of academic, legal practitioners, as well as business and civil society representatives.
Organisations should review any data protection guidance that arises from this expert group once it is issued.
Details of the Commission expert group can be found here.
