Over the next 18 months, DNV, along with many major industry partners, will be working on developing guidelines for transporting carbon dioxide via pipeline. The group will examine the best ways to transport dense, high pressure CO2 through pipelines both on land and into the sea. StatoilHydro, Shell, BP and Vattenfall are among the industrial partners taking part in the project. Froydis Eldevik, project manager at DNV, said, “The joint industry project is an important milestone for CCS and is absolutely timely since the industry really needs this recommended practice.”
