Last month, we reported how proposed changes to the accountancy rules would have unfair ramifi cations on NHS hospitals as they would have to include charitable donations in the general NHS budget. However, the Treasury has announced that such plans have been postponed for a year and that it will launch a review of the likely impact of reform on NHS charities. The review, which will contain contributions from various organisations such as the Charity Commission, will report back to Ministers in September 2010. This means that funds of NHS charities can remain entirely separate from those of the state for at least one more year.
