Pursuant to an ordinance of the Brussels Parliament, as completed by a decree of the Brussels Government, both dated 3 May 2018, the Brussels Environmental Agency will officially change its name to Environment Brussels on 24 May 2018.
Pursuant to a decree of 8 March 1989, the official name of the Brussels environmental and energy administration is Brussels Environmental Agency (Institut Bruxellois pour la Gestion de l’Environnement / Brussels Instituut voor Milieubeheer, in short IBGE - BIM).
However, since several years, this administration calls itself Environment Brussels (Bruxelles Environnement / Leefmilieu Brussel) in its communication towards the public (e.g. in the correspondence, the soil certificates or on its website).
Pursuant to the ordinance of the Brussels Parliament dated 3 May 2018 and its execution decree, both published in the Belgian Official Gazette on 14 May 2018, the Brussels Environmental Agency will officially change its name to Environment Brussels (Bruxelles Environnement / Leefmilieu Brussel) on 24 May 2018, by implementing this name change in all relevant regulations.
This modification of its official name aims to ensure consistency between the practice and the legal regulations and to avoid confusion in the public mind.
