The National Minimum Wage ("NMW") is the minimum wage which all employers, regardless of their size, must pay their employees per hour. The NMW rates are reviewed in October each year and the rates which will take effect in October 2013 have just been announced.

  • Standard adult (workers aged 21 and over) - £6.31 (currently £6.19)
  • Development (workers aged between 18 and 20) - £5.03 (currently £4.98)
  • Apprentices - £2.68 (currently £2.65)
  • Young workers (aged under 18 but above compulsory school age and not apprentices) - £3.72 (currently £3.68)
