Canada’s environmental agency, Environment Canada, has initiated a public consultation on proposed regulations that would limit greenhouse gas (GHG ) emissions from new on-road, heavy-duty vehicles. The plan seeks to improve fuel efficiency for vehicles such as full-size pickup trucks and tractor-trailers; freight, delivery, service, cement, garbage, and dump trucks; and buses. The proposed regulations would be effective with the 2014 model year and would align Canadian vehicle standards with U.S. standards. They are targeted to appear in the Canada Gazette, Part I, in early 2012 with a 60-day comment period.
