Members of the National Nurses Organizing Committee (NNOC), an affiliate of the National Nurses United, which represents Cook County Health and Hospital System registered nurses, picketed John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in Chicago on June 5 to protest alleged unsafe staffing practices and the purported denial of earned pay by hospital officials. The union alleges that the 250 open registered nurse positions throughout the Cook

County system create an unsafe staffing ratio, which it claims puts lives at risk. The union further alleges that Cook County hospitals continuously fail to pay overtime and contractual increased pay rates.

Approximately 16 restaurant workers at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport went on strike for 24 hours due to their perceived lack of a process to unionize. The workers, with the help of Unite Here Local 7, are seeking to organize.
