The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General recently published “The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ Adjudication of Petitions for Nonimmigrant Workers (I-129 Petitions for H-1B and H-2B Visas.” The OIG said that Immigration Services Officer (ISO) fraud training is “decentralized and inconsistent” and could be improved. The OIG recommended that the USCIS Director: (1) develop and implement a national, post-basic fraud identification and response training program that identifies current fraud trends; and (2) ensure that this fraud training is conducted annually for all ISOs and supervisors responsible for H-1B and H-2B adjudication. The USCIS Director concurred with both recommendations. The report is available at http://www.dhs.gov/xoig/assets/mgmtrpts/OIG_11-105_Aug11.pdf.
