The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) publishes a final rule to implement America Invents Act deadlines for the commencement of disciplinary proceedings for misconduct before the USPTO. The complaint must be filed “within one year after the date on which the Office of Enrollment and Discipline Director receives a grievance forming the basis of the complaint, and in no event more than ten years after the date on which the misconduct forming the basis for the proceeding occurred.”  

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issues draft guidance titled “Medical Devices: The Pre-Submission Program and Meetings with FDA Staff.” According to FDA, the guidance is intended to “describe the Pre-Submission program (formerly the pre-Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) program) for medical devices reviewed in the Center of Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) and the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER).” Comments are requested by September 11, 2012.
