On February 10th, the Treasury Department identified The Lebanese Canadian Bank SAL together with its subsidiaries (LCB), as a financial institution of primary money laundering concern under Section 311 of the USA PATRIOT Act for the bank's role in facilitating the money laundering activities of an international narcotics trafficking and money laundering network. The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network also filed a Notice of Proposed Rule Making in which it proposes prohibiting U.S. financial institutions from opening or maintaining correspondent or payable-through accounts for LCB.
