When calculating periods of time under the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 it is useful to know the following general rules. TIme periods expressed days mean calendar days. However there are some additional rules you need to follow when calculating time periods:
- where a thing is required to be done within a certain period after an action is taken the day on which that action is taken should not be counted in the calculation of the period;
- where a thing is required to be done within a certain period that period must include at the very least 2 working days;
- where a thing is required to be done within a certain period and the last day of that period is not a working day the period should be extended to include the next working day; and
- a working day excludes Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas Day, Good Friday and bank holidays.
