Senate Environment and Public Works Chairwoman Barbara Boxer has announced plans to push back the timetable to markup climate legislation. She had originally planned to hold the markup before the August recess but has put it on the backburner in favor of the Senate’s continuing efforts on health care legislation. Boxer said, “We'll do it as soon as we get back, and we'll have it at the desk when Harry wants it, when the leader wants it." Also of note is that Majority Leader Harry Reid pushed back the deadline for the six Senate committees to deal with climate legislation from September 18 to September 28.
