A Health Care E-Alert
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) previously announced that CIGNA Government Services will serve as the Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Jurisdiction 15 which includes Part A and Part B in Ohio. Recently, it was announced that CIGNA will assume responsibility for Ohio Part B on June 18, 2011 and then for Ohio Part A on October 17, 2011. All claims processing and payments will be handled by CIGNA as of these dates regardless of the date of the service.
National Government Services (currently Ohio Part A) and Palmetto GBA (currently Ohio Part B) will transfer all pending and in-process operations to CIGNA at that time, including claims, appeals, and enrollment applications.
Providers and suppliers who are currently enrolled in electronic funds transfer (EFT) will be contacted by CIGNA to solicit new EFT authorizations (via the CMS-588 EFT application) approximately ninety days prior to the provider’s corresponding transition date (approximately March 7, 2011 for Ohio Part B suppliers and July 5, 2011 for Ohio Part A providers). Providers and suppliers should watch their mail for this important letter, which will include detailed instructions on completing the EFT authorization form and submitting it to CIGNA.
