Following the Government’s announcement on 8 October 2012 that a second batch of 57 projects will receive funding from the so-called ‘pinch point’ fund, the number of such projects has now reached 65. The £170m spend is part of a programme to remove bottlenecks and keep traffic moving on England’s strategic roads. Improvements include the widening and improvement of junction 4 of the M5, the widening of approach roads of junction 5 of the M27 and the widening of the A14 between junctions 31 and 32 in Cambridgeshire.
