Maryland:

Proposed legislation includes allowing employees with state discrimination claims to pursue those claims in state court. This is significant because Maryland anti-discrimination law protects sexual orientation discrimination. The current procedure does not permit anything more than administrative review, therefore eliminating recovery of compensatory damages.

Wisconsin:

Proposed legislation would increase the minimum wage to $6.50 and tie future increases to inflation.

Michigan:

Proposed legislation that would add wage discrimination to its anti-discrimination laws and make wage discrimination a misdemeanor and subject repeat violators to fines up to $50,000.
