Philadelphia-based Nexus Technologies, Inc., an export company that identified U.S. vendors for contracts put out to bid by the Vietnamese government has seen three former employees and one former partner sentenced for violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) and other statutes. These individuals had admitted to paying bribes to Vietnamese officials in exchange for various contracts, which were falsely reported as commissions in the company’s records.

The sentences handed down in the case, which was prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice (the “DOJ”), ranged from probation and fines to a 16-month prison sentence. Nexus itself previously had admitted to operating primarily through criminal means and had agreed to cease operations.
